High praise for Cyclone Tightlock 600

For Sheep and beef farmers looking for cost effective stock control Cyclone's revolutionary Tightlock 600 series is proving very hard to beat.

Launched during the last 18 months Tighlock 600, which features innovative 600 mm stay wire spacings with Tighlock's internationally recognised fence knot technology,  has delivered significant benefits for Gisborne Monitor Farmers Ken & Kirsty Shaw.

Our fencing contractor just loved it", said Ken.

The Shaws’ Matawai property, midway between Opotiki and Gisborne, runs both sheep and cattle and they have trialed Tightlock 600 fences at two locations on the farm.

One strain is located on a steep and very exposed section of the property while the other is on a flatter area.

"Up on the ridge line of the steep section the wind can be very strong and battened fences can take a hammering, he said.   Building the fence with Tightlock 600 has certainly solved the problem".

When asked about how stock proof the fence was, Ken's positive response included an interesting additional attribute.

” One bonus of the 600 mm spacing is that sheep no longer get their head's caught in the fence as can be the case with closer spaced netting.”

Prior to its commercial release  Tightlock 600 was trialed extensively at rural locations throughout New Zealand and was found to provide outstanding stock control

One of these was the Lincoln University Farm where it impresses manager Colin Pedegrew."We trialed Tightlock 600 for two years and really challenged it with very large mobs of lambs and Ewes, without any problems at all.

That's pretty fantastic when you realise how pushy our ewes are and see the damage they have done to our other fences".

Trials at champion fencing contractor Paul Van Beers' Waipukarua property were equally conclusive."We trialed it on a very steep section of our property with sheep and beef without any problem at all.

3 years later it’s as good as the day we put it up".

Tightlock 600 is 900 mm high, with 8 line wires and it can be easily erected using either wooden posts or steel Y posts.    Of interest, the 600 mm stay wire spacings of Tightlock 600 are actually closer together than that of most traditional post and batten/dropper fences where spacings can range from 650mm to 1250 mm.

Tightlock 600 is available from PGG Wrightson outlets.
